In addition to capturing ideas using the System Tray Capture tool, you can install and use our add-
in for Microsoft® Outlook®. This tool makes use of the same Quick Links and MindManager
basket processing provided by the TPAssistCapture (or TPAssist 2007 version 1.6 or above).
To use the Outlook capture, first select the Outlook Item or items you wish to capture.
Then click the TPAssistCapture for Outlook icon in the toolbar:
(NOTE: you can also capture a single item, using the TPAssistCapture icon when reading the
item; In Outlook 2007, see the "Add-Ins" tab).
Clicking the Capture icon will launch the capture dialog:
Now all you do is select your category / tag and click Send to Basket. You could also choose
the customize the topic title.
The example above illustrates some of the advanced features available when TPAssist 2007 is
installed.
The "Link At" capability, instructions the Basket Process to create a hyper linked topic to the
new topic at the requested location.
The
"Mark Item with Category" option instructs the capture tool to change the category of the
selected Outlook item to include the specified category. This is extremely useful when using
Outlook Search Folders to view your in- processed items
. (You simply create a Search Folder to
find items that don't include Category containing "@DONE" and use this Search Folder instead of
the INBOX folder).
The "Prepare Auto-Journal" feature includes a summary of the Outlook Item contents in the a
topic callout. This callout can then be used by TPAssist 2007 to automatically record or Journal
this capture.
When more than one Outlook item is selected, you have the option to
"Process As A Group".
This enabled you do include a whole conversation of emails into one single topic for filing and
processing. If you choose the deselected this option when you have selected multiple Outlook
items, each item will be processed separately. In this case, you can't customize the topic title,
which will assume the "subject" of the Outlook Item.
The Options dialog (below), enables you to configure how the "Prepare Auto- Journal" will process
the contents of the Outlook Item:
