In this example, we explore how to use TPAssistCapture to manage Brainstorming.
1. Configure a "non-linked" category:
-
Open MindManager.
-
Open your Quick Links Map: Click "Options" in the "Capture" group in the TPAssist
Ribbon (in MindManager 6, see the Tools menu).
-
In your Quick Links Map, add a new topic "Brainstorming" and do not create a hyperlink
-
Save and close the Quick Links map.
-
Locate “TPAssistCapture Options”.
-
In the Options dialog, choose “Refresh list of Categories / Tags used by the capture
tools”.
2. Capture your new item.
-
Open your capture tool (click on the icon in the System Tray)
-
In the Capture Dialog, click "Refresh Category/Tag List" (to pickup the newly created
quick link).
-
Now in the notes area, enter your capture item.
-
Now make sure you pick your new "Brainstorming" tag from the list on the left.
-
Press ENTER or Click "Send to Basket"
3. Process your captured item
-
Return to MindManager.
-
Click "Process" in the "Capture" group in the TPAssist Ribbon (in MindManager 6, see
the Tools menu).
-
Return to your main Dashboard mind map and the newly created item should be there
waiting (i.e. in the IN- TRAY topic).
Further information: Subtopics that are not given hyperlinks will be treated as "brainstorming" tags
during Basket Processing. This means, TPAssistCapture will create a new blank map, insert the
category/tag and create your idea as a new subtopic. This puts you ready to start brainstorming
further with that idea.
