TPAssistCapture currently supports three methods for capturing.  Firstly ideas, tasks,  notes and next actions  can be  captured via the System Tray Capture (STC) tool.  Secondly you can capture your emails and other Outlook items using the Outlook Capture Tool.  Thirdly, you can send topic trees to the capture basket via the  Send  Topic MindManager Command. And finally, the entire mind maps can be sent to  the capture basket via the  Send Map  MindManager Command.
The following tools are documented below:

Aspect
Details
Idea/Task/Note/Next Action
This free text area is for capturing your ideas, tasks, notes  and next actions.
View Buttons
Just above the capture area are buttons for altering the view.  Click these buttons to show/hide lists, speed keys and system buttons.
Attach
This text area is for entry of the fully qualified file name of  items you wish attached to your idea, task, note or next  action. You can enter  the  file name yourself or use the File  Open button.
All file specified by this facility will be attached to the target  topic  during  basket processing.
NOTE: You must click "Add" to have the item delivered to the  capture basket.  
Attachments are not "lifted" from the local hard drive or  network drive until the basket is processed, therefore they  must not be moved or deleted until processing is complete.  
View
This button displays a list of currently attached files.  These  items  will be send with your note to the basket for processing.
Prepare Auto-Journal
The "Prepare Auto-Journal" feature add information to the captured item so that when processed you will know when it was captured.  This feature is available only with TPAssist 2007.
Topic Date
The Topic Date date picker provides the means to capture the due date of the topic when it is created in MindManager.  This date is also used in conjunction with the "Date", "Date/Time" and "Later Start" System Link At buttons.  This feature is available only with TPAssist 2007.
Category/Tag
This area is where you choose your category / tag.  If you have the list displayed you can use your mouse to scroll the list and pick the appropriate item.  This list is extracted from the  main topics of your Quick Links map.
Next to the label is a text box for searching the category/tag list, whilst searching use the UP and DOWN arrow keyboard keys to select the PREVIOUS/NEXT item that matches the search string.
The result, either from the list, your search string or from click on of the buttons will be displayed in the area below the label.
Also Link At
This area is where you choose where you want to link your captured item.  If you have the list displayed you can use your mouse to scroll the list and pick the appropriate item.  This list is extracted from the "flagged topics of your Quick Links map.
Next to the label is a text box for searching the category/tag list, whilst searching use the UP and DOWN arrow keyboard keys to select the PREVIOUS/NEXT item that matches the search string.

This feature is available only with TPAssist 2007.
Speed Keys
These buttons populate the Category and/or Link At selection based on the "ALT" key configured in the Quick Links.  This feature only works with TPAssist 2007.
System Category / Tag
These buttons populate the Category/Tag selection with pre-configured system Quick Links. This feature is available only with TPAssist 2007.
System Link At
These buttons populate the Link At selection with pre-configured system Quick Links.  The "Date", "Date/Time" and "Later Start" buttons work in conjunction with the Topic Data date picker to determine when the topic is due or will start.  This feature is available only with TPAssist 2007.
Send To Basket
This command packages the note and file names of  attachments (if applicable) and stores the package in a TEXT  file in your My  Documents folder.  These TEXT files will  remain there until the  basket is  processed,
Send and Add  Another
This command is the same as "Send To Basket", except the  dialog box  will remain on the screen ready for another capture,
Cancel
This command will cancel the capture and hide the window.
Refresh  Category/Tag List
This command will query the cached list of categories/tags.  This cached list is stored in the system registry and is  populated via MindManager in the last step you did when  specify categories or  tags.
Options...
This displays the Capture tool options.

Single-Click to Open TPAssistCapture
Checking this option instructs TPAssistCapture to open the Capture popup window when the icon in the System Tray is clicked.
Double-Click to Open TPAssistCapture
Checking this option instructs TPAssistCapture to open the Capture popup window when the icon in the System Tray is double-clicked.
Load to System Tray when Windows Starts
Checking this option instructs TPAssistCapture to load TPAssistCapture when Windows starts and also minimize the icon to the System Tray.
Clear Link At after Send
Checking this option instructs TPAssistCapture to clear the Link At selection after you press Send.  This feature is available only with TPAssist 2007.
Comment for Auto-Journal Preparation
This text value is recorded or "journalized" when captured item is processed with-in MindManager.  This feature is available only with TPAssist 2007.
Remind me I have queued items every:
This value defined how often a balloon is displayed in the System Tray indicating the number of captured items pending processing.  Make the value zero (0) for no reminder,
Enable Hotkey
Checking this option instructs TPAssistCapture to register a system wide hot key for the Capture dialog box.  Using the Hotkey selection pull-down list boxes, you can choose which key.  When this key combination is pressed, the Capture dialog box will appear.
    
CapturingTools_img3.gif Capture for Microsoft® Outlook®
In addition to capturing ideas using the System Tray Capture tool, you can  install and  use our add-in  for Microsoft® Outlook®.  This tool makes use of  the same Quick  Links and MindManager basket  processing provided by the  TPAssistCapture (or  TPAssist 2007 version 1.6 or above).
If you haven't already, see our Downloads page to obtain the Outlook Add-in. (www.tpassist.com/downloads )
To use the Outlook capture, first select the Outlook Item or items you wish to capture.
Then click the TPAssistCapture for Outlook icon in the toolbar:

(NOTE: you can also capture a single item, using the TPAssistCapture icon  when reading the item; In  Outlook 2007, see the "Add-Ins" tab).
Clicking the Capture icon will launch the capture dialog box:

Now all you do is select your category / tag and click Send to Basket.  You  could also  choose the  customize the topic title.

The example above illustrates some of the advanced features available when TPAssist 2007 is installed.
(The example above, utilizes the "Setting Up Outlook for "IN-BASKET" processing")
The "Link At" capability, instructions the Basket Process to create a hyper  linked topic to the new  topic at the requested location.
When more than one Outlook item is selected, you have the option to  "Process As A Group".  This enabled you do include a whole conversation of  emails into one single  topic for filing and processing.  If  you choose the  deselected this option when you have  selected multiple Outlook items, each  item will  be processed separately.  In this case,  you can't customize the topic  title, which will assume the "subject" of the Outlook  Item.
The Options dialog box (below), enables you to configure how the "Prepare Auto- Journal"  will process the  contents of the Outlook Item:

CapturingTools_img4.gif Send Topic MindManager Command
The Send Topic MindManager Command provides a method for taking topics and their sub topics and putting them in the basket for  later processing.  The Send Topic command sends the topic's XML to the basket, this XML is then used during processing the create an exact replica of the original topic and its sub topics.
This tool is really useful for processing notes taking during phone calls, ad hoc brainstorming or even  meeting minutes.
To use the Send Topic command, simply select the target topic (the map doesn't need to be saved and this capability works with Mindjet Connect maps). Once you have your topic selected, locate the "Send Topic" command.  (See the Tools menu in MindManager  6,  and the TPAssist Ribbon in MindManager 7/8/9.)

Now, set the category or tag,  then click Send To  Basket.

The "Delete topic after sending to basket?" option will delete the focus topic after it has been send to the basket.
When processing is next performed, the captured topic will be created at the appropriate quick link location.

The Send Map MindManager Command provides a method for taking entire  maps and putting them  on  the basket for later processing.  The Send Map  command stores the fully qualified file name of the   map  to the basket, this file  name is then used during processing to attach the map to the topic.
This tool is really useful for processing notes taking during phone calls, ad hoc  brainstorming or even  meeting minutes.
To use the Send Map command, simply create and save your map.  Then  locate the "Send Map"  command.  (See the Tools menu in MindManager 6,  and the TPAssist Ribbon in MindManager 7/8/9.)

Now, customize the description (if necessary).  Then set the category or tag,  then click Send To  Basket.  If you wish TPAssistCapture to delete the original  after it is attached, check the "Delete Original  map after map is processed  and attached."
