Journals and semi-structured notes, as illustrated below, have been designed to work  optimally  with the Topic Notes Window open your screen vertically (either the left or right).  Further more, the  width of the tags and dashed lines has been designed so that the width  of notes window can be  reduced sufficiently to maximise map viewing area.

In MindManager 6, to optimally configure your Topic Notes window, firstly ensure the  Window  Placement is "Vertical".  This achieved by going to the  Tools menu, Options,  Notes Tab,  choose "Vertical" under Notes window placement.  Also if you prefer left  hand operation, go to  the Tools menu, Options, General Tab, Check/Uncheck " Left- handed user interface".
