The TPAssist methodology has five steps. These steps are explored in the topics below.
The first step in the TPAssist method is to get the context in which
you will operate by clearly identifying your goals structure. For
your professional life, this goal structure should contain no more
than 5 top line items (7 at an absolute maximum). Under each
goal, start to collect the projects or operational aspects that form
the basis of your professional life.

The second step in the TPAssist method is to identify and expand
on the activities that will take you towards completing your projects
and reaching your goals. These activities, or the “tasks” or “To-
Dos” should be listed against the project or operational aspect to
which they apply. It is important that each “task” or “To-Do” has a
short-life (typically no more than 1-2 weeks). In this way, as you
complete each “Task” or “To-Do” you will immediately see progress
towards your goals.

In step three of the TPAssist method, the goals, projects and tasks
based tree- like structure is used capture, track and act-on the
various requests and activities that fill your day. Whilst often
laboriously tedious at the time, tracking is a crucial aspect to the
method as it will help you recall what you have said, done,
promised or been promised. Hopefully, the tree- like structure and
the tracking will save you time by allowing you to quickly see what
has to be done and also reduce the time spent going over old
ground.

The final proactive stage of the TPAssist method is to review your
activities and "tick the boxes". By seeing and completing your
actions with-in this goal based context you will hopefully be
achieving a sense of accomplishment on a daily, hourly or even
minute-by- minute basis.

The final stage of the TPAssist method is to celebrate your
achievements. Reward yourself as you complete tasks, projects
and goals. Total fulfilment is only possible if you allow yourself to
enjoy your accomplishments.
