Accessed through the Publish tab
of the TPAssist Console, the publish to Excel capability draws
on several built- in templates to display Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), team To- Do lists, a
Resource Planner/Schedule and project Gantt Chart. For complex mind maps, the Work
Breakdown Structures can be published as a single Excel worksheet or broken down over several
layered Excel worksheets to aid in distribution and communication.
|
|
The templates supplied with TPAssist 2007 include the following styles (or "Profiles"):
-
Issues List: Project Issues List.
-
QUOTE: Report styled around providing quotation details, includes Work Breakdown
Structure and Project Notes.
-
QUOTE PORTRAIT: as above, however formatted to print Portrait.
-
Status: Project Status Report which includes Classic Work Breakdown Structure with
Red-Amber- Green (RAG), Gantt Chart, Resource Planner, To- Do lists and Project
Notes.
-
Status PORTRAIT: as above, however formatted to print Portrait.
-
Status Source: This variation on the Status template has no headers so the status
information can be easily sorted and filtered.
-
Status Summary PORTRAIT - similar to the Status PORTRAIT template, except
ownership and date columns are omitted to create greater room for the status
information.
-
Status with Costs PORTRAIT: as above, however includes costs column for publishing
the resource costs associated with activities.
-
Status with Est. PORTRAIT: as above, however includes estimates column for publishing
the resource estimates associated with activities.
-
Task List: Similar to Status, however includes Task List, which is a simple list of tasks
broken out into resources, and compatible with imputing into project task lists as used
in Microsoft SharePoint. (NOTE: Tasks Names can become quite long; abbreviations can
be applied to parent topics using the "References" In Notes Tags)
The illustration below, shows a Work Breakdown Structure using the "Status" profile.
The information published to the Excel spreadsheet will include the topic details, including title
and task information. An automated numbering, or Task ID, is also included against each item.
In addition, the published report includes the following extract information (as illustrated by the
IDs above).

In addition to producing a number of "ready to print" reports, TPAssist will export the current
project and task information to a format suitable for generating pivot tables and charts. This
capability unleashes the potential types of reports and analysis possible with mind map details.
The "Pivot Source" worksheets come in the following three flavours:
-
"Status Source" - this worksheet is similar to the existing "Status" and "Status Portrait"
reports, however for the pivot variant, the headings and notes area have been removed, so
you can filter and pivot the data. Further more, the worksheet has a "level" column which
represents the topic level the line presents. When used with the Data Auto Filter capability
of Excel, you can quickly produce summaries of your project and task map.
-
"Pivot Source - Task" - this worksheet provides a list of "end topics" with their associated
properties, each topic occupying one row. The columns of the spreadsheet represent the
properties.
-
"Pivot Source - Resource" - this worksheet provides a list of "end topics", repeated for each
resource. As is useful for obtaining effort and cost by resource.
The task and resource pivot tables also include up to five Text Marker Groups. These are defined
in the Document Tab
.

|
Accessed through the Publish tab
of the TPAssist Console, the publish to Microsoft Project
capability extracts information from the current map and its sub maps (if required) to produce a
single project Gantt. The makes use of the full names and hourly rates defined in the Resource
Editor, is Multimap enabled and will allow the roll-up of topics to produce overview or summary
project Gantt charts.
NB: This capability is only available with MindManager version 7 or above.
